Question 8 - How does the Latticino machine work?
Answer 8 - Up to a point, just like a regular lathe.
--------------------------------------------
Question 9 - What is the difference between a Latticino machine and a standard lathe?
Answer 9 - The Latticino machine has 2 motors. Each motor has its own control. The first motor is the main drive, which can be one-speed or variable-speed. This motor drives the main shaft, just like a standard lathe. This motor is generally equipped with a foot-switch. The second motor is a high-speed DC motor with a variable-speed control to enable the twist. There’s also a master switch for a quick shutdown of both motors at the same time. The latticino is composed on the machine in a manner similar to manual composition. After you put together the clear and colored rods, melt the latticino together until it’s completely ready for the twist. When you’re ready for the twist, switch on the #2 motor with a low RPM speed. Do not use high speed for the start. Start to pull apart the latticino, then increase the speed to increase the pulling action. You have 15 seconds to do that. Just before the glass is almost cool, shut off the master switch before the glass breaks. Remember the two motors are running against each other in opposite directions. You should now have over four feet of latticino. The quality and consistency is unsurpassable. If you ever dream of making goblets with latticino, this is the method.

Question 10 - What are some tips for building latticino?
Answer 10 - Carefully design all patterns before you start. You’re only limited by your imagination. Use any and all combinations for creating a good pattern. For example:
·Clear inside - color and clear outside
·Clear inside – two-color and clear outside
·Clear inside – three-color and clear outside (clear is for dividing the colors outside)
·Color inside, encased in clear and any combination outside

Question 11 - How are your Latticino machines built?
Answer 11 - New Latticino machine models are constructed from high quality aluminum. They’re available with 0-13 mm chucks or 0-16 mm chucks and super ball bearings. They can also be used as a small lathe, but they have over 48" between the chucks. You may blow glass with them and make a regular twist, too.
